With growing popularity of virtual reality, the importance of 3D content creation receives significant attention. The manual creation of large 3D scenes becomes unfeasible. Therefore the methods for automated or semi-automated 3D content creation have to be developed. The generation of virtual cities plays especially important role due to the many possible application areas including game industry, movie production, or urban planning.
The main topic of this thesis is to develop and implement an algorithm for data-driven generation of city layout. The algorithm will use the layout information from existing cities and combine it in a sensible way to generate a completely new city layout. Additionally, the developed algorithm will be evaluated in terms of the speed and quality of the result.
